I’m thrilled to introduce you to one of my favorite hangouts on the web for theatre-lovers — MTIShowspace: Where Theatre People Click! (How clever is that tag line?) Beginning this month, I’ll be writing for Music Theatre International, a terrific organization that runs this social media site. It’s like Facebook for theatre lovers!
Don’t worry. I’ll remind you when new [...]
I Want My MTI!
Jesse Tyler Ferguson Hearts The Arts
Theatreworks USA is honestly one of those arts organizations that makes my heart swell with joy.
The team there works tirelessly to bring live theatre to children across the country, opening their eyes to the magic and joy that is apparent in every one of their productions, from those just off Broadway to those stopping in [...]
And Then There Was The Reality Show
2004. I had a daughter in my belly and still had a waist.
Sooooo.
Apparently there’s a movement afoot in 2010 – a movement focusing on mom bloggers who might potentially be interested in participating in a reality show. I have absolutely no experience with reality shows other than watching “Project Runway” and “Top Chef” with reckless abandon. [...]
Who We Are and How We Roll
It’s baffling to me that my one year blogaversary is here. Oh, and that I still don’t look like that illustration above is baffling, too. Time flies when you’re having fun pursuing show biz blogging and maintaining a diet of coffee, carbs and cheese! You betcha!
Thanks to this website, I am energized daily not just from the cupcakes but [...]
You’re A StageMama If… (The Summer Edition)
8.
You’ve successfully turned your football-loving, pubescent middle school son into a “Glee”-loving, show tune singing star. Never mind those pictures of Kristen Chenoweth you found under his bed. It’s all good.
7.
Five minutes in to “Shrek: Forever After” you realize your seven year old, dyxlexic neighbor on Ritalin could have written a better ending for the iconic [...]

Zina Goldrich & Marcy Heisler
A StageMama Interview
In part 2 of my interview, Marcy and Zina get serious about the state of the theatrical industry, what’s next for them and advice for parents out there.

What is your opinion about the state of Broadway and opportunity (and funding) for original scores?
MARCY: There are always the people who [...]
A Story For Our Time and Tribe: “Everyday Rapture”
Sherie Rene Scott’s “Everyday Rapture”
So what happens when a self-proclaimed semi, semi semi-Broadway star meets the inevitable spiritual introspection that comes with motherhood and hitting her 40s?
In my ideal world, a musical happens. And lo and behold, it actually opened last night on Broadway! Sherie Rene Scott’s “Everyday Rapture” is easily the most joyful, moving night [...]
Spotlight, Please: Marvelous Marcy Heisler & Zina Goldrich, Part 1
Zina Goldrich & Marcy Heisler
A StageMama Interview
********
The second thought I had after I decided I indeed wanted to start this website was that I had to be a vocal and enthusiastic champion for my favorite songwriting team Zina Goldrich (composer) and Marcy Heisler (book and lyrics). They are so talented, so endearing and so funny I want [...]
StageMama Giveaway: “Glee” is back!
“Glee” returns Tuesday night, April 13, 2010 on Fox. 9:28pm EST.
♥
So my family’s back from our 2010 road trip to Michigan. I’m so “GLEEful” we survived (tornadoes, double ear infections, the hives and too much beef be damned) so that I may watch the return of “Glee” tomorrow night in the comfort of my own home, I’m throwing [...]
Sherie Rene Scott’s “Everyday Rapture” The Next Roundabout Hit?
It has been announced by The New York Times that The Roundabout Theatre company is considering replacing the cancelled “Lips Together, Teeth Apart” with Sherie Rene Scott’s musical “Everyday Rapture.” I personally think it’s a brilliant idea.
Fan-freakin-tastic.
An excerpt from Ben Brantley’s New York Times review of the “Everyday Rapture”:
Second Stage Theater produced “Everyday Rapture” Off [...]
