PBS Kids Club Thirteen Launches!

Sponsored Content

So I’m officially an Ambassador.  Not of a foreign country or of Four Square. (Don’t they have Ambassadors over there? “I’m the Ambassador of that there Starbucks!”)
Nope.
Much Better.
Beginning today, I’m super excited to announce I’m part of the parent panel for PBS Kids Club Thirteen.  PBS, we all know, is home to quality, commercial free children’s programming and where my [...]

StageMama Giveaway: “Glee” is back!

“Glee” returns Tuesday night, April 13, 2010 on Fox. 9:28pm EST.

So my family’s back from our 2010 road trip to Michigan.  I’m so “GLEEful” we survived (tornadoes, double ear infections, the hives and too much beef be damned) so that I may watch the return of “Glee” tomorrow night in the comfort of my own home, I’m throwing [...]

I Am Married to Steve Carrell (In My Sideways Life)

I have it good.
Thanks to Steve Carrell’s appearance on Oprah this week, I realized that I am in fact married to him in my sideways/alternate reality life.  Sure you may think I’m simply recreating my own “Lost” alternate dimension filled with all the right choices, coincidental meetings in restaurant refrigerators and while hijacking taxis from LAX, [...]

Sherie Rene Scott’s “Everyday Rapture” The Next Roundabout Hit?

It has been announced by The New York Times that The Roundabout Theatre company is considering replacing the cancelled “Lips Together, Teeth Apart” with Sherie Rene Scott’s musical “Everyday Rapture.”  I personally think it’s a brilliant idea.
Fan-freakin-tastic.

An excerpt from Ben Brantley’s New York Times review of the “Everyday Rapture”:
Second Stage Theater produced “Everyday Rapture” Off [...]

Mr. Sondheim, Your Children Listened.

I love that Stephen Holden’s New York Times review of Sondheim: A Birthday Celebration  ended with Holden asserting that the audience said a ”silent prayer to the powers on high” that Stephen Sondheim’s music never end.  Last night at the concert’s end, well over 300 young theatre performers crowded the aisles, balconies and stage to sing a definitive “Sunday” from “Sunday In [...]

Sondheim Countdown Day 2: And Then There Was The Time He Sent My Dad A Thank You Note

“Dreams don’t die so keep an eye on your dream.  And before you know where you are, there you are.”

In just under a day, I will be seated at Avery Fisher Hall waiting for the lights to dim and the long-awaited tribute concert to Mr. Sondheim will begin.  I’m in high speed nostalgia today.
It was in [...]

Sondheim Countdown Day 3: Harmony

Yes, I am only three days away from becoming awash in Stephen Sondheim’s music courtesy of the New York Philharmonic and, oh, every Musical Theatre Legend in the world.
But today, it is Sunday.

Stephen Sondheim’s 1983 Pulitzer Prize winning musical, “Sunday In The Park With George” is at its most eloquent description, a meditation on art, emotional [...]

Sondheim Countdown Day 4: “Gypsy”– And So It Begins.

Four days and counting until I’ll be sitting in the audience of the New York Philharmonic’s 80th Birthday celebration of Stephen Sondheim.  Yes, I’m excited but it’s also sure to be a cathartic experience because Stephen Sondheim has provided much of the soundtrack to my life since I appeared in “Gypsy” in 1976.

The Balloon Girl, [...]

What’s coming up for me?  Not just roses, readers.  I’ll be soaking in three hours of uninterrupted Sondheim music performed by the New York Philharmonic and, oh, just about every single Musical Theatre Legend who has ever wrapped their vocal chords around his songs.
Bernadette Peters.
Mandy Patinkin.
Audra McDonald.
George Hearn.
Patti LuPone.
Donna Murphy (will she call in sick? Don’t [...]
